The Mysterious Case of the Missing B12

I learned something shocking recently. When I went vegan almond milk became a big part of my diet. I particularly loved Silk brand above the others because it was fortified with B12. And all non-meat eaters are quite aware of the fact that this is the one essential vitamin which cannot be obtained from non-meat sources other than supplements.

You need to either take a vitamin, use nurtional yeasts or get it from fortified foods. So Silk including it in their milk was convenient and appreciated.

Then I started having all these unusual cravings for chicken and beef which I didn't understand. Cause if I do get cravings it's usually for ice cream or muffins. But here I was dying to put some chicken in my mouth. And quite ashamed of it.

I didn't know it then, but I later discovered the problem. Turns out Silk stopped adding B12 to their non-dairy milk line-up. So I was drinking the milk thinking I was getting the 12 and in reality I was not. I could've compensated with nutri-yeast had I known. I just didn't.

Companies love to brag when they make some minor product improvement. But helll if they mention the fact that they shrunk the package size or removed a previously included feature. Not cool Silk. Not cool ast all.
